I have been blessed with the opportunity to take taleem from some of the great maestros of tabla playing.

Starting from my father Ustad Harkirat Singh and my grandfather Bhai Gurmit Singh Virdee I was introduced to the Benares and Punjab styles of playing, following which I became a disciple of Pandit Shankar Ghosh, specialising in the Faurkhabad style and now I am a disciple of Pandit Yogesh Samsi of the Punjab style.

In my learning journey however, I have not only been inspired, but also had the opportunity to take taleem and knowledge from other great maestros of tabla playing including Ustad Zakir Hussain, Pandit Suresh Talwalkar, Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri, Pandit Nayan Ghosh, Pandit Anindo Chatterjee, Pandit Kumar Bose, Pandit Subhankar Banerjee, Pandit Bickram Ghosh and many more.

From this experience, I try and provide a thorough base for technique and development of tabla playing that comes from a foundation of experiencing and learning from tabla players of all different styles of playing, whether it is Punjab Gharana, Lucknow Gharana, Farukhabad Gharana or Benares Gharana.

Too often I see FREE online tutorials which vary from high to low quality or perhaps missing details I am sure students would need clarification on, or perhaps the content is not extensive or wide-ranging enough to keep students engaged on a long-term basis.

This is the reason I created Tabla Online.

A platform which I will use to continually create online material and courses available for you to continue your development in the long term.

I know there is no match to learning 1-2-1 from a guru and that is why I do not consider this to be a complete substitute in the learning experience. I also teach 1-2-1 online and you should try and find a teacher who can continue to give you advice in your journey.
